We’re in the process of creating a default list of soccer stats for our new Statistics module (which is almost done).

So the question is, what statistics should be included as a default set of stats for any soccer team? Naturally, each team manager will be able to edit these stats categories to fit their specific team, so we’re just looking for the “default” set.

Thanks for the help!

The MLS site seems to have a good set of default stats defined. Does anybody know what all the acronyms mean? Is this a good template to use for our soccer stats defaults?

I will look at the needed stats that amateur teams would like to have.

Sofar, this is what i can make of the MLS stats:

UNF
POS = Position
PLAYER = Player
GP = Games Played
GS = Games Started?
MIN = Minutes Played
G = Goals scored
A = Assists
SHT = Shots
SOG= Shots On Goal
FC = Fouls Committed
FS = Fouls Sufferded
C = Cards (red, yellow))
E = (Send out of the field by the refery, what’s the English term, excluded?)

Goalkeeper stats:
SHTS = Shots Saved
SVS =
GA = Goals Against (total)
GAA = Goals Against Average (average goals against per game))
PG = Penalties Given (against))
PA =
W = Wins
L = Losses
T = Ties
SHO =

These are what I think would be the most important stats to keep track of in TeamSnap / LeagueSnap.

Team Stats
Wins = 3 points
Losses = 0 points
Ties = 1 point
Total Points
Goals For
Goals Against

Player Stats
Games Played
Goals = 2 points
Assists = 1 point
Total Points (from goals and assists)
Yellow Cards (more for LeagueSnap)
Red Cards (more for LeagueSnap)

For a GK (GoalKeeper), SHO means shutouts. This should probably be in the default stats for keeper.

This is what i got from the player in my team who is concerned with statistics, fairness in substitutes, nasty jobs (being linesman) etc.

I will ask him join this forum so he can see what you guys have to say about it.

“Interesting stats for an amateur soccer team could be the following;

1. practices attended
 2. the player's influence of practice attendances on the game results
 3. weekly selection of preferred players, calculated by percentage won games, scored goals and assists, scored goals by the team while present in a specific game for forward players, and e.g. for defenders: calculated percentage lost games, goals scored against, fouls etc
 4. VERY INTERESTING automatic weekly selection of substitutes by ranking all players firstly by absolute precentage of having been substituted (being totally absent not counted as being substitute) and secondly, turning the player's names red when the had been substituted the last game, turning orange when substituted the game before, turning green when not have being substituted the last two games. NB substitutions can take place every quarter of the game, so when a player has been substituted for half a game, he gets two marks for substitution
 5. and futhermore per game:
 6. guest players
 7. penalty kick rewarded, caused, taken, missed, scored, stopped
 8. team captain
 9. goal scored
10. assist
11. own goal
12. being lineman
13. sort of game divided in friendly game, competition game, (national union) cup game
14. part of equipment forgotten eg towell, shoes, clean underwear
15. number of supporters
16. score at half time
17. per player: percentage lost, tied, won games"

You have plenty of good suggestions. One point: different leagues have different methods of awarding wins and draws, so having a default of 3 points for a win, 1 point for a loss will not apply everywhere, particularly in youth leagues.

Wins, draws, losses, goals scored, goals against, individual goals, individual assists, yellow and red cards should pretty much cover you in a 1.0 set of stats.

Hey folks,

Hurrah! We’ve got Statistics pretty much ready to go. Before we release it to the general public, though, we need to do a limited beta test with specific teams. If you’re interested in participating in this limited testing, please email us at support@teamsnap.com and make sure to include your Team ID. (It’s the first number you see up in the URL when you login to your team.)

Hi there,

Could you advise how long it will be before we are able to make use of the stats module?

Thanks!

Hi,

back after a year of absence.
I would realy like to try teamsnap again so i hoped to see improvements on some basic stuff.

Forgive me if i have overlooked something, but i do not see link between the results of a game and the players stats.

When the team wins a game, it would be pretty when the stats of the players that played in that game would also show a win. With that, i could calc the averages too.
Is this possible, did i overlook it?

I deleted all games i putted in at the start of last season. Since i did not use teamsnap no info is lost. But what if i did fill in all stuff last season, how would i be able to fill in the new season without deleting the previous one?
I hope it is possible to work with seasons, otherwise i need 1 application per season.

regards,
Lennard

Note on the C/E columns

= Cards (red, yellow))
E = (Send out of the field by the refery, what’s the English term, excluded?)[/bq]

C is for Caution, which is signified by a yellow card
E is for Ejection, which is signfied by a red card

For a single game, a player could get a single caution or a single ejection, or two cautions and one ejection (the second caution means the player must be ejected, so he is shown a second yellow, then a red), or a single caution and an ejection, which means he first did something to earn a caution and then later committed a foul that would get an ejection in any event.
